The Full Measure of God's Faithfulness
Name: THE FULL MEASURE OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

Scripture Text:  PSALMS 146

Are you happy?  Truly, are you happy?  What makes you happy?  Could it be your spouse, your children, your
parents, your hobbies, or your job that makes you happy?

The reason why I asked this question is because it is relevant to us to be happy.  I want you to know that if you are
not happy now, you will be after this sermon.  Not because the sermon will be over, which means lunch is upon us,
but you will be happy because of God’s word to you this morning.

What we will learn from the reading of Psalms 146 and God's promises to us.

-The full measure of God’s faithfulness has belonged to the righteous.

-The full measure of His faithfulness to this day, belongs to the righteous.

-How does God show faithfulness to the righteous?

-He shows His faithfulness to us in the following ways as found in Psalms 146

The first way that the…
Lord shows His faithfulness to us is as our:

Creator

                - EXPLANATION – The central word found in verse 6 is who made.  Who made clearly indicates that the Lord created
all.
                - (ILLUSTRATION) – The blessings of God rests upon those who choose to look to Him for hope and not into that of
princes and son of a man, in whom there is no hope to be found.
                - ARGUMENTATION – This is true as we can reflect back into Genesis Chapter 1 in the beginning when God created
the heavens and the earth.  How can man truly look for hope in those that are created the same as you and I?  We are a needy
people that can only put our hope in God alone.
                - APPLICATION – This helps us to understand that we are created by God and God will provide and protect His
creation if only man will choose to put their hope in Him and not that of man or self.

The Conclusion
                - FOCUS – Creation must fulfill the intention of why it was created.  The purpose of why we were created is found in
Psalms 146:1 – 2. (Read)

                - ACTION – We are to understand that we are not to trust in man where there is no help.  Our only hope is in God
alone.  The action that we need to take is that we need to be centered around our Creator and not on His creation.

The 2nd way that the Lord shows His faithfulness to us is as our:

Provider

                - EXPLANATION – {Read verses 7 – 8} Let us look at the verbs in this portion of Scripture.  The Lord executes justice,
gives, opens, raises, loves, watches, and relieves.  The Lord loves the righteous.
                - (ILLUSTRATION) – God’s people should expect Him to be faithful, because of His word that is found in verse 6. {Read
verse 6} He keeps truth forever!  By keeping His word, we have confidence in putting our hope in the Lord because He will
sustain us both now and for all of eternity.
                - ARGUMENTATION – Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
Heb 10:23 (KJV)

                - APPLICATION – We are to hold fast the profession of the righteous.  That is our hope in the Lord and we are not to
waver because the Lord has promised and He is faithful.

The Conclusion
                - FOCUS – The Lord is true to His word.
                - ACTION – Let us be true the Lord because He keeps His word.

The final point that the Lord shows His faithfulness to us in today’s message is that He is our:

Protector

                - EXPLANATION – {Read verse 9} The Lord watches over strangers, He relieves the fatherless and widows, and He
watches the way of the wicked as well.  Not only does He watch the way of the wicked, but He turns the wicked upside down.  That
means that He confuses those that are wicked, those that don’t put their hope in Him.  Have you ever been in situations where
you were confused and all alone?
                - (ILLUSTRATION) – Strangers are those that are not living in the faith.  They choose to live for self and putting their
hope in themselves or in others, but not in God.  By their choice, they not only jeopardize themselves of His provision and
protection, but most importantly, their salvation.
                - ARGUMENTATION – Psalms 139:1-4 / 7 – 8 (KJV) 1 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. 2 Thou
knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. 3 Thou compassest my path and my lying
down, and art acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. 7
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make
my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

                - APPLICATION – I want you to know today that you are not alone in what you face.  You can try to do things on your
own maybe trust in others to help get you through, or you can choose to let God to get involved in your life.  You can choose to
put your hope in the Lord and live for Him, and know that He created you for a reason and the He will honor His word to provide
and protect you.  Do you trust Him enough to allow Him to work in your life?

The Conclusion
                - FOCUS – 2 Tim 2:10-13 (KJV)
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal
glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if
we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

                - ACTION – 1 John 1:9 (KJV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
